What is an FAGD Dentist If your dentist is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), they are the best of the best in the field. Only the top 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows. You can rest assured that your dentist cares about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. Your dentist practices these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year — not every dentist does this. To become an FAGD dentist, a dentist must: be practicing Dentistry for over 5 years, complete over 500 credit hours of continuing education, earn 350 of those 500 credits in live courses and live patients, pass an exam equal in difficulty to a board certification exam.
WHAT IS A DIPLOMATE?
A Diplomate is a person who has received a diploma, especially a doctor and who has been certified as a specialist by a board within the appropriate profession. Diplomate status is an important professional achievement that signifies to patients plus dental, medical and other healthcare professionals that the Dentist promotes and maintains the highest standards of patient care, teaching and research in the discipline of their field for the benefit of the public.
